Simple QR Scanner (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is an Android app that scans QR codes and barcodes. This policy explains what data the app processes, why, and what choices you have.

Summary in one line

The app scans codes entirely on your device. We do not collect, store on a server, or sell any of your personal information. The only data that ever leaves your device is the standard ad request sent to Google AdMob to display a banner ad.

What the app does on your device

• Camera access (android.permission.CAMERA) — used solely to point the camera at a QR code or barcode and recognize it. The camera image is processed in real time on your device by Google’s ML Kit barcode-scanning library. The camera feed is never uploaded, stored, or transmitted anywhere. It is not saved as a photo, and we cannot see it.
• Image picking — when you choose “Gallery”, the app uses Android’s system Photo Picker to let you pick one image. The picked image is scanned on-device only; it is not uploaded.
• Scan history — the text content of codes you successfully scan (e.g. a URL or Wi-Fi string), together with the format and a timestamp, are saved in a local database on your device so you can review them later. This database lives only on your device. You can clear it any time using the “Clear” button on the Home screen. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

What data leaves your device

Only one thing: an ad request to Google AdMob so the banner at the bottom of the Home screen can be filled.

In serving the banner, Google AdMob may collect or process:

• Your device’s advertising ID (a resettable ID controlled in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads).
• Approximate IP-address-based location and basic device information (model, OS version, language).
• General usage signals required to serve and measure the ad.

This is governed by Google’s privacy policy, not ours:

You can reset or limit your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Permissions used

Permission	Purpose
CAMERA	Live QR / barcode scanning. Used only while the scanner screen is open.
INTERNET	Required by Google Mobile Ads to request a banner ad.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE	Required by Google Mobile Ads to know whether the device is online before requesting an ad.

No READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, location, contacts, microphone, or account permissions are requested.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Because the app collects no personal data on a server, there is no account or stored record for us to look up, export, or delete. You can:

• Clear your scan history at any time using the “Clear” button on the Home screen, or by uninstalling the app.
• Reset your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → “Reset advertising ID”.
• Opt out of personalized ads in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → “Opt out of Ads personalization”.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, your consent for personalized ads is collected via Google’s User Messaging Platform consent dialog the first time you open the app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will be updated when we do. Material changes will be reflected in a new app version’s release notes.
